The tenth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) will begin on April 17th, 2025, with a match at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore between the defending champions Islamabad United and home favourites the Lahore Qalandars. That will be preceded by a lavish opening ceremony attended by dignitaries like the President of Pakistan, Anweer Ul Haq, and the owners of all the teams, whilst well-known musical acts and a firework and laser light show will entertain the crowd.

The PSL has quickly established itself as one of the premier cricket franchise tournaments in the world, and this year, it promises to be bigger and better than ever. Here is everything you need to know about PSL tickets.

How to buy tickets for PSL 2025?

Tickets can be bought both online and offline.

1. Online

There are three main methods for acquiring PSL tickets online.

  1. Book through TCS, the official ticketing partner of the Pakistan Super League. This will be the fourth tournament in which they have acted in this capacity, so they are well-versed in the technology and operations needed to support the demand. In addition, they offer home delivery of tickets to make it extra convenient for cricket fans and provide in-stadium validation. Their employees will also be on hand at games to guide fans to their seats. Tickets can also be bought over the counter at TCS Express Centres, which are located in various cities across Pakistan.
  2. Book tickets for the PSL directly through their official ticket partner, Bookme.pk
  3. Through selected branches of Habib Bank, which are the title sponsors of the Pakistan Super League.

2. Retail outlets

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has also established several retail outlets to sell tickets directly to the public. Such outlets have been established in four cities currently—Lahore, Karachi, Multan, and Rawalpindi (Islamabad)—although more may be added.

Step-by-step guide to buying tickets

Fans must supply personal information to buy tickets online just by entering in the fields provided.

  • Name: Complete family name (no nicknames or abbreviations).
  • CNIC: Enter the 13 digits of your CNIC (Computerised National Identity Card).
  • Mobile No: Current cell phone number.

Each person is entitled to one ticket per CNIC.

There is also the option to buy a book of ten tickets and to purchase a “global pass” that entitles the user to watch as many games as they want in PSL 10, irrespective of the stadium, although the price for this has yet to be announced.

Tickets can be bought via credit card or COD (cash on demand). Again, the CNIC will be required as proof of identity.

Ticket prices

Ticket prices vary by stadium and by each stand enclosure within it. For example, at both the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore and the National Stadium in Karachi, the cheapest tickets start at PKR 500 each, while the most expensive retail at PKR 3,000.

VIP tickets are at the top end of the scale. Those well-heeled enough can expect to pay PKR 12,000 for a seat in the Javed Miandad stand in Karachi, for example.

Terms and conditions

The ticket price is non-refundable. Tickets cannot be returned or refunded, nor can they be transferred to somebody else.

Getting tickets for the final

Tickets for the knock-out games and final typically sell out within an hour of them becoming available. Some local sellers, though, reserve some tickets for those who have registered with them.

Meanwhile, Infinix, one of the PSL’s main sponsors, and Pakistan’s top-selling smartphone brand, is allowing fans to watch the final for free with a promotional offer. Users need to go to the Infinix Facebook page and correctly predict the PSL matches’ winners. Ten lucky winners will then be drawn out of the hat.

Price breakdown for league matches

Although prices vary according to stadium and match, the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore offers a valuable guide for what can be expected elsewhere. The lowest-priced tickets, at PKR 500, allow entrance to Abdul Qadir, Majid Khan, Sarfraz Nawaz, and Saeed Ahmed Enclosures.

PKR 1000 will gain admittance to the Zaheer Abbas Enclosure. Those able to pay PKR 2000 will have a choice of the Javed Miandad, A.H. Kardar, Saeed Anwar, or Rajas Enclosure. The top-tier tickets, PKR 3,000 each, will give access to the Waqar Younis and Imran Khan enclosures.

PSL venues

The Pakistan Super League will be played at four venues across Pakistan. The largest of these, in terms of capacity, is the Multan Stadium in Multan, which can accommodate 35,000 spectators. That is closely followed by the National Stadium in Karachi, which has a capacity of 34,000. The Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore has room for 27,000 fans, whilst the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium is the smallest of the venues to be used. There is room for just 15,000 supporters every game.

(in previous years, games were also played in the United Arab Emirates in Dubai and Sharjah).

The format

Each of the six teams plays each other in a double round-robin format in the group stage. The top four teams then advance to the knock-out stages of the competition, with Net Run Rate used to decide the finishing order in case the teams end up tied on points.

The knock-out stages follow the so-called Page system, which is common to many franchise cricket tournaments. The top two finishers meet in the First Qualifier, with the winner advancing straight to the final. The loser gets a second bite of the cherry.

That is because after the third and fourth-placed teams meet in the First Eliminator, they will play the winner of that match in the Second Eliminator to decide the other finalist.

PSL teams

The league began with five teams—a sixth, the Multan Sultans, was added after a complete auction process in 2017. As the league continues to develop, plans are already in hand for further expansion.

Each team must consist of a minimum of four Pakistani and four overseas players. Like many other franchise leagues, the PSL operates a retention and draft process. Players are categorised into six categories—Platinum, Diamond, Gold, Silver, Emerging, and Supplementary—and teams are allowed to pick players from each category according to their budget.

Players who are not retained and overseas stars looking to play in the league will enter the Player auction, which this year will take place on January 11th in Baluchistan. 22 overseas stars have signed up for the auction, including the Australian duo of David Warner and Steve Smith.

1. Islamabad United

Islamabad United was one of the original founders of the PSL and is also the most successful team in the competition’s history, having won it on three previous occasions—in 2016, the league’s inaugural season, again in 2018, and most recently, last year, when they beat the Sultans in the final.

The franchise is owned by Leonine Global Entity via its sports arm, Leonine Global Sports, which, in turn, is owned by Amna and Ali Naqvi. Their home ground is the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, and they are currently coached by Mike Hesson. Their home kit is red/orange with a streak of light brown, while their away strip is deep purple.

Two anthems are currently associated with the team – “Cricket Jorray Pakistan” and “Kitna Rola Daalay Ga”.

Shadab Khan has been their captain since 2019. Others who have held the role include the Australian Shane Watson and the South African JP Duminy. Khan is also their leading wicket-taker of all time, whilst the New Zealander Colin Munro has scored the most runs for the franchise.

2. Karachi Kings

Another of the PSL’s founder members, the Karachi Kings, had their most successful season in 2020 when they beat the Lahore Qalandars to win the competition for the only time in their history. When the Karachi franchise was initially sold to the ARY Media group, it was the most expensive franchise in the tournament, although the Multan Sultans subsequently exceeded that.

Their home ground is the National Stadium in Karachi, and their primary colours are blue and gold. Their jersey also incorporates the logo of a roaring lion. The West Indian Phil Simmons is their current coach, while the side is led by current Pakistan captain Shan Masood. Former Pakistan captain Babar Azam is their leading run scorer of all time (although he has subsequently joined Peshawar Zalmi) while Mohammad Amir has taken more wickets for them than any other player.

3. Lahore Qalandars

The second most expensive of the original PSL franchises, the Lahore Qalandars, are owned by the Qatari-based Runa brothers. The name Qalandars refers to the Sufi culture of Lahore, while the Q represents both Qatar and Qualco, the firm for which the Rana brothers work.

They won their first PSL title in 2022 and successfully defended it a year later, defeating the Sultans in the final on both occasions (their 2023 victory by a single run was the closest in the tournament’s history).

Despite that, they have also finished bottom of the league a record five times.

Their home ground is the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Former England fast bowler Darren Gough is their current coach, and they are captained by Shaheen Afridi. Their home colours are green jerseys and dark blue trousers, while their away strip replaces the green with cerise.

Their all-time leading run scorer is Fakhar Zaman, whilst their all-time leading wicket-taker is their skipper Afridi.

4. Peshawar Zalmi

Peshawar Zalmi represents Peshawar, the capital of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. Emirati businessman Javed Afridi owns them. Zalmi won the PSL in 2017 and were runners-up in each of the two following years.  Their home ground is the Arbab Niaz Stadium in Peshawar, although capacity issues mean that they are often forced to play matches at larger venues.

Zalmi is a Pashto word that means youth. Their logo has three shades, all referring to the region—blue and white signifying pride and skies, and yellow for the people’s energy. Their primary team colours are yellow and black, with an all-purple away strip.

Daren Sammy, the former West Indian all-rounder, is their current coach. They are captained by Babar Azam. Wahab Riaz has taken the most wickets for them, while Kamran Akmal is their all-time top run scorer.

5. Quetta Gladiators

Quetta Gladiators are nominally based in Baluchistan, the least populated part of Pakistan. Although their designated home ground is the Bugti Stadium in Quetta, they play nearly all their home matches at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. They are owned by the Karachi-based company Omar Associates.

Beaten finalists in  2017, they lifted the trophy two years later, beating Peshawar Zalmi in the final.

Their primary colours are purple and golden, and their logo represents the Roman “Galea helmet” worn by gladiators while they fought. The team’s chant “Kai Kai Quetta” echoes that uttered by the Balouch Regiment during World War II.

Their current coach is the Australian Shane Watson, and their captain is the South African Rilee Rossouw. Sarfaraz Ahmed is their all-time top run scorer, and Mohammad Nawaz is their leading wicket-taker.

6. Multan Sultans

Founded as an expansion franchise in 2017, the Multan Sultans went through several ownership changes before Alamgir Khan Tareen assumed sole control in 2021 (although it reverted to a family member after his untimely death in July 2023).

That was also the year they won the PSL for the first time, although they have since then lost the last three finals.

Their home ground is the Multan Cricket Stadium. Their home and away kits are in various shades of blue. The team anthem is Hum Hain Multan kay Sultans.

The Pakistani Abdul Rehman coaches them, and their captain is Pakistan’s current white-ball captain, Mohammad Rizwan.

Matches between the Sultans and the Qalandars are often called the “’Punjab derby.”
